Sunborn Yacht Hotel, Royal Victoria Dock, Newham - October 2009

DLP Planning has secured planning permission on behalf of ISS Facility Services Ltd for the mooring of a new Sunborn Yacht Hotel at the Royal Victoria Docks, Newham, London.   The yacht will act as a replacement for the former Sunborn Yacht Hotel that had been moored at the Eastern Gateway to the ExCeL Centre since 2001.  

The permitted extension of the ExCeL Centre has meant that the former hotel could not remain moored in its position at the Eastern Gateway, and the opportunity was taken by Sunborn International to retire the existing boat and seek planning permission for the mooring of a new yacht at the ExCeL Centre's Western Gateway, alongside the successfully regenerated Royal Victoria Square.

Sunborn International is a pioneer of the luxury yacht hotel concept. The Yacht Hotel, is specifically designed for this location and will encompass 153 rooms offering a range of accommodation including luxurious suites, a fine dining restaurant and brassiere along with state-of-the-art conference facilities.  Whilst the new vessel will be marginally longer than the former yacht hotel it will provide a 50% increase in the number of rooms consistent with the wider regeneration objectives of the Docklands area.

The location of the Sunborn Yacht Hotel is in close proximity to the ExCeL Centre, Royal Victoria Square and the O2 Arena. With the Custom House DLR Station located just 200 metres away station there are easy public transport links for visitors to the City and it’s wealth of attractions.
