Permission secured for new access to Business Centre in spite of officers recommending refusal - October 2009
DLP Planning Ltd (Bristol) has secured planning permission for a new access road from a Business Centre in rural Somerset direct to the A38, contrary to recommendations by the LPA and their concerns about visual impact. DLP were able to persuade Members that the benefits (in terms of safety, convenience, residential amenity and economic development) outweighed what little visual impact there was, and that alternative routes suggested by officers were either unworkable or impractical.
In overturning the officer's recommendation Members also complemented the Business Centre, the last phase of which DLP also secured permission for, as an outstanding example of rural diversification.
