Country Park, Gloucestershire

DLP Planning Ltd (Bristol) has been instructed by the owners and operators of Old Down Country Park near Thornbury in South Gloucestershire to advise on its defence against possible enforcement action. The Country Park, which had operated under the terms of a planning permission issued in the 1980s, closed several years ago when the property was sold. However, the new owners, in light of local support, have successfully reopened it to visitors but have been threatened with enforcement action. DLP Planning has already managed to persuade Council’s officers against proceeding with formal enforcement action while it seeks to regularise matters. This has arisen largely because the areas to which the public have access extend beyond the limits of the original consent. The Park includes a range of rare breads and exotic creatures as well as a woodland adventure trail, café, farm shop and pick-your-own.
