Following the grant of planning permission for the development of 24,900 M2 of B1 space on land at Millbrook Proving Ground, DLP Planning Ltd, together with be1 Architects Ltd, were instructed by Millbrook Proving Ground Ltd to prepare a ‘Design Code’ to guide subsequent applications for the consented site.
The Design Code was a requirement of Condition 6 of the permission granted by the planning authority, Central Bedfordshire Council, and is a precursor to the discharge of any other reserved matters or conditions attached to the outline consent.
The Design Code is a detailed document which sets out the design approach having regard to a number of factors including, landscape, heritage, ecology and sustainability, and is increasingly being used by the Council in order to guide good design.
The draft Design Code was submitted to the Council for comment, and following some small amendment to the document it has now been fully agreed and the condition discharged.
